Modawa Institute - creating tertiary pathways in Oro Province.

To continue the learning journey after FODE, KTF has partnered with the Modawa Institute of Higher Education in Popondetta to provide financial and technical support to their newly-developed School of Teaching, which was launched during 2024.

Modawa offers Oro Province’s first Diploma of Primary Teaching studies, providing a welcome tertiary option for KTF’s FODE students on teaching pathways to progress their studies locally.

In 2024, KTF partnered with the Modawa Institute, the Oro Provincial Department of Education and the Australian Government to fund the construction of dormitories on site at the Modawa Institute. These buildings will enable female students to be able to board at Modawa and are the final pieces of infrastructure required in order to operate a teacher training institute.

KTF also worked closely with Modawa to gain the institute's accreditation with the Department of Higher Education Scient and Technology - the PNG governing body of Teacher Colleges.

The complementing infrastructure at Modawa Institute was generously funded by the Australian Government via the PNGAus Partnership
