The Hon. Roy Biyama Balimo Academy - from kindergarten to Grade 12 at one extraordinary school.

The Hon. Roy Biyama Balimo Academy, an SDP funded initiative implemented by KTF, opened in 2024 with 140 students from across the greater Balimo area. It’s an exceptional school - offering quality education from K1 to Grade 12 and attracting experienced teachers from across PNG.

Led by Principal Patricia Kombele, the all-Papua New Guinean team includes subject specialists across science, maths, English, social sciences, arts, and ICT. Supported by a team of teaching assistants, library assistant and admin personnel, the dedicated Academy team works tirelessly to create an engaging and supportive educational experience that is best-in-class.

The school focuses on both academic and personal growth, fostered by:

  • Quality resourcing across all grades and disciplines, including a library, ICT and science labs.

  • Boarding facilities for students from remote villages (female and male)

  • Daily, nutritious breakfast program for all students

  • Parent–teacher interviews to keep families involved in their children’s learning

  • School holiday program for boarders

  • Balimo College School of Teaching practicum placements, promoting shared learning between experienced teachers and trainee educators

The Academy passed its PNG Department of Education compliance audit with flying colours and is fully registered to deliver early childhood, primary, and secondary education to a significantly increased cohort in 2025.
