Early Years - Investing in Early Childhood Education.

Starting school early sets children up for lifelong learning. With PNG introducing its new ‘3-6-6’ education model, Early Childhood Education (ECE) is now officially part of the system. But many provinces lack the support and structure to roll it out effectively.

KTF’s Early Years project is stepping in to help. We work alongside provincial education departments to build strong ECE program frameworks and upskill teachers to deliver quality, age-appropriate learning for children aged 3 to 5 - especially in rural and remote areas often left behind.

We provide tailored training and ongoing professional development for elementary teachers, provincial trainers, district senior teachers, and school boards of management. Teachers are given practical ECE modules to guide lesson planning and curriculum design. We also help schools create safe, engaging spaces for young learners - modifying classrooms and building playgrounds to support play-based learning.

Through Early Years, we’re helping teachers give every child the best possible start during these critical formative years.

“I want real change. The community wants to help be part of the change. I believe that children in play, they learn. A child can be playing and you are teaching them life lessons.”
