A new project targeting gender-based violence has recently launched in Oro Province. Promoting a zero-tolerance approach to gender-based violence, family and sexual violence and child harm, the Sanap Strong project will upskill key community members to better prevent and respond to violence.

Round 2 of the Light 4 Learning (L4L) program which installs solar light and energy systems into communities attached to KTF’s education program was completed in May 2023. KTF recently sent in teams to complete in-depth interviews with program participants to evaluate the sustainability, effectiveness, impact, relevance, coherence and efficiency of the Light for Learning program.

The Kicks 4 Kokoda tournament touched down in Oro Province. Featuring a nail-biting soccer tournament between the teams representing the Kokoda values of Endurance, Sacrifice, Courage and Mateship. You'll never believe who took home the trophy!

Last week, Kokoda College celebrated its largest-ever graduating cohort with 185 students graduating; including 72 students reaching the Grade 12 level. There were history-making scenes at the Mt Koiari FODE Centre in Manari, who celebrated the graduation of 38 students, marking the first Grade 12 graduation on the Kokoda Track.

A critical pertussis outbreak has occurred in Oro Province, KTF has jumped to assist the outreach health patrols responding to this health crisis.

Dr. Genevieve Nelson, KTF CEO, and 2023 Archer Leaders Luther Temai and Courtneyella Dotson as well as 2024 Archer Leaders Solange Dawana and Taine Kassman joined Timmy at NBC radio to talk about the history of the Archer Leadership development program, graduation and induction celebrations at the 2024 Annual Archer cocktail event, experience highlights for the outgoing Archers and what the 2024 Archers hope to achieve as young leaders.

The Lukautim Wantok (look out for a friend/mate) initiative enhances practical skills along with vital business and professional knowledge. Now delivered through Project Zero via the Safe House, this initiative provides life-changing skills to survivors - fostering their agency, and economic security and giving them the skills to start a new life once repatriated from the Safe House.
