We are delighted to share highlights from the 2024 Ralph Honner Leadership Oration, an event dedicated to celebrating inspiring leaders and a shared history and mateship between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The 22nd annual oration was an inspiring evening, where guests were profoundly moved by the powerful speech delivered by the Acting Prime Minister, Hon Richard Marles MP.

We were privileged to host special guests, including His Excellency Mr John Ma’o Kali, High Commissioner for Papua New Guinea; Mihai Sora, Lowy Institute Director of the Pacific Islands Program; and KTF's Chair, Ian Kemish AM, former Australian High Commissioner to PNG. Dr Jessica Collins, Project Director of Lowy’s Australia-PNG Network MC’d the evening, with participants in the 2024 Emerging Leaders Dialogue joining us for the event.

In partnership with the Lowy Institute, the Ralph Honner Leadership Oration honours the remarkable legacy of Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Honner. Known for his exemplary leadership and resilience, Honner’s legacy symbolises the enduring bond between Australia and Papua New Guinea, a relationship forged during the Kokoda Campaign and strengthened through shared history and mutual respect.

A heartfelt thank you to our Canberra supporters who joined this commemoration of leadership and the enduring partnership between Australia and Papua New Guinea.
